Our eight day tours are designed for people who will visit Turkey again, and so prefer to explore only a portion of the many wonderful sights available to them in their first visit, afterwards they may choose to fly straight home or enjoy a relaxing week lazing on a beach in one of our lovely coastal resorts. Our Classical tour focuses on the majestical city of Istanbul, the wealth of ancient treasures on our beautiful west coast and one of the most amazing natural wonders in Turkey. All hotels used are selected from the very best available and may include listed heritage buildings. This tour is a generous taste of the delicacies that Turkey offers you our treasured guest.
Day 01: ISTANBUL
Arrival in Istanbul. Transfer to the hotel where a welcome cocktail awaits, followed by dinner. (D)
Day 02: ISTANBUL
Our tour begins with a visit to the magnificent Topkapı Palace and the Blue Mosque, completed in 1616 and famous for its beautiful blue mosaics. Next the Byzantine Hippodrome and St Sophia Cathedral the greatest church of christendom in its time and still the 4th largest cathedral in the world. Enjoy the tranquility of the Byzantine Underground Cistern before returning to the hotel. (B,D)
Day 03: ÇANAKKALE
Departure to Çanakkale. Visit the ancient Troy, setting of Homer's Illiad, and the tragic site of Gallipoli. (B,L,D)
Day 04: ASSOS
Departure for Assos. On the way visit the impressive site of the Acropolis at Pergamon and one of the most important medical centres of classical times Asclepion. (B,L,D)
Day 05: KUSADASI
Today we tour the magnificent ancient city of Ephesus and visit the local museum with its collection of beautiful statues and reliefs. In the afternoon we visit one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the Artemis Temple. Tonight discover for yourself a traditional turkish restaurant or joins us for an evening of feasting and belly dancing (an optional evening activity, book with your tour guide). (B,L)
Day 06: PAMUKKALE
Departure to Pamukkale. Visit the "cotton castle" with its gleaming white travertine terraces of calcium rich minerals, enjoy an invigorating spa before exploring the ancient healing centre Hierapolis. (B,L,D)
Day 07: ANTALYA
We visit the Archeological Museum to prepare us for our tour to Aspendos, the site of the best preserved ancient roman theatre and the ancient city of Perge. The evening is yours to enjoy, perhaps a harbourside fish restaurant. (B,L)
Day 08:
If returning, transfer to the airport for onward flight through Istanbul to HOME. Otherwise transfer to resort of your choice to commence beach holiday. (B)
